Walking Tour of Rostock & Warnemünde (5.5 hours)

A few highlights of this tour:

– inside visit to St. Marien Church
– a harbor cruise
– a snack at a local eatery + German beer

Warnemünde is a quaint seaside town near the harbor entrance to Rostock, one of the city-states of the medieval Hanseatic League. Once a fishing village, it has now become a Northern European destination for travelers and locals alike. On this walking tour, you will begin at the pier and proceed down the beach promenade, visit the fish market and get great views of the historic gabled houses and the Old Stream boulevard. You will then be taken to Rostock. Your guided tour will include the town hall, the city's main boulevards, and Rostock University, one of the oldest universities in the world (founded in 1419).  You will see the Convent of St. Catherine, an old monastery founded in 1243, that is presently used as the Academy of Music and Theater, as well as the remnants of the medieval wall and gates that used to defend the city. There will be inside visits to St. Marien Church,  which is home to the famous astronomical clock and baroque organ. There will be a break at a local cafe to try a German snack, such as a Fischbrötchen (a fish sandwich), as well as a glass of world-famous German beer. You will then take a brief but scenic harbor cruise back to Warnemünde.

PRICE: 90 USD per person*, or 75 USD per person with SPB discount*.
Price includes: English-speaking guide for 5.5 hours, all transportation for the day, admission to St. Marien Church, snack at a local restaurant, and the harbor cruise.

*Depending on group size, weather and other factors, your group may be transported with either public transportation or a comfortable vehicle provided by SPB-Tours. The tour in Warnemünde and in Rostock will be a walking tour. If your ship docks in Rostock port (rather than Warnemünde), there will be a 15 USD per person surcharge to cover the transportation costs, since the port is 10 km away from the city of Rostock.
